Savannah's 10th Birthday
Double digits now . . . new bike long enough for those legs. . . taylor swift cd . . . a leather jacket (for the bike trip to Mt St Helens).
This weekend I tool her on an overnight ride to Mt St Helens. The weather had been amazing all week, and the day we leave it's cloudy, cold. But I learned a new thing about Savannah - she'd rather brave the weather than wait another weekend! We had a lot of fun together. Bought her first pocket knife at REI on the way, and we wrote our initials in every tree in teh camp. We went all teh way to Johnston Ridge, but it was so foggy, we only saw the mountain fo 5 seconds during a break! Oh well, we had fun though.

RAZOR CLAM FEAST!

Savannah was invited to go clamming with her friend's family last night. They got up at 4am and drove 3 hours to Ocean Shores. They quickly got their limit, ate breakfast, and then drove home! (They're awesome!) So, Savannah brought home her 15 razor clams (which Neil and Deanna graciously dug up for her) and they taught us how to clean them. Thys got right to work and quickly cleaned all the clams.
Here's how he did it....

Dip the clams in boiling water for about 3 seconds...Next, dip in ice water to stop them from cooking.....
The shells peel right off...

Next, try to look very intense....Butterfly the meat, taking off all the yucky guts and black parts...

Dip them in egg and then into a flour/breadcrumb/spice mixture. Fry 'em up in bacon grease...
MMMMMmmmmmm.... They were delicious dipped in Tartar sauce mixed with hot sauce. Thanks Neil and Deanna for sharing these with us!! You're so wonderful!

Seth gets an iPod from his Auntie Beth

Auntie Beth in D.C. sent Seth a present that blew Seth away, an iPod! His favorite color too. So we've loaded his kid songs and he lies in bed listening. I thinks it's "Thooow Coool."
Thanks Auntie Beth!

Makenna lost ANOTHER tooth!

I'm amazed at Makenna's determination to get a visit from the Tooth Fairy! If she feels a loose tooth, she works on it, and works on it .... until she pulls it out herself! She has four missing teeth right now- cute!

Hansel and Gretel...

The girls were in the Missoula Children's Theatre's production of Hansel and Gretel in February. They had a blast! Savannah was a "New Camper" and Makenna was a "Wally Bird".
